About Me

Jennifer Maxie

I am a mother of one and grandmother of one.  I received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, La (now University of Louisiana at Monroe) in May of 1985.  I continued my education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ where I received my Masters of Science degree in Psychology.  I obtained a certification to administer the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI) as I was interested in the different ways individuals respond to similar/same situations.  I have over 10 years of experience working with both children and adults, including client that are living with Serious Mental Illnesses (SMI).  I developed a love for counseling as a child after observing someone dealing with a dual diagnosis and I always wondered what could I do to help; how does the one diagnosis affect the other, therefore I wanted to understand and hoped I could help others.
